By using a web-browser, the server can be easily managed from anywhere on the network. Remote Access of Console ToolsThe XN series supports remote access of the console tools, enabling the management of the NAS by the console tools from anywhere on the network. Secured Administration AccessThe Celeros EzNAS XN can be accessed and configured by the web-based, password-protected GUI over Secured Socket Layer (SSL). Console ToolsThe Celeros EzNAS XN can also be managed by using the console tools. For security reasons some advanced and critical administrator tasks like, removing and restoring volumes, checking and repairing the file system, can only be managed from the console. From the console tools, the XN appliance can monitor the status of the network, installed drivers and hardware, memory usage and others. Email NotificationAdministrators will be automatically alerted by Email, in the event of any warnings or technical failure. Multiple Management LevelsAdministrators can be assigned different rights. The Celeros EzNAS XN supports three levels: Full Access, Maintenance and Administration. Update via webWith one click the server can check for new updates. New updates can be downloaded and installed remotely on servers at different locations. Windows Active Directory / Primary Domain ControllerCeleros XN Series supports Windows Active Directory (ADS), PDC, LDAP and ADS & NIS User-/Group ID Synchronization to leverage information about users, groups, systems and other resources stored in the Active Directory. The support of Access Control List (ACL) ensures that access rights of users are automatically taken over from the Domain. External LDAPCeleros EzNAS XN supports external LDAP servers to enable users to configure and administer multiple Celeros EzNAS XN servers from one single point (either an Celeros XN Series with a LDAP database or any other LDAP server). Support for Network Information Service (NIS)The NIS directory service protocol enables the distribution of system configuration data such as user and host names between computers on a computer network. Celeros EZNAS XN supports NIS for easier and consistent access of information stored on any other Celeros EzNAS XN using NIS. File System With Journaling SupportThe support for journaling makes the file system more reliable and allows easier, faster recovery from unexpected shutdowns. User and Group Quota ControlControl over disk usage for users with large disk requirements can be exercised either by assigning them a dedicated share or by restricting their individual usage through individual user quotas or to assign a quota on a group to which the user belongs. Standard Network Gateway SupportCeleros EzNAS XN can be used in business environments with structured networks and has an optional data access via Intranet or Internet. DHCP ClientBy using the support of Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) the process of assigning IP addresses in a network can be centrally managed and automated. Log FunctionFor technical support and troubleshooting purposes, the log file is an efficient instrument in analyzing and solving technical issues. Superuser FunctionThe “Superuser” account has unrestricted access to all the files and volumes. This is especially helpful if a user has left the company and certain directories or files can not been accessed. Supported Network ClientsCeleros XN Series supports the file-based protocols CIFS/SMB, NFS, FTP, Secure FTP and Apple Talk enabling Windows, Linux, Unix and Macintosh clients to share data on the same appliance. E-mail notification for RAIDCeleros EzNAS XN can be configured to send Email alerts to the system administrator in case of any problem with the RAID subsystem. Antivirus (server's shares scanning)Celeros EzNAS XN has an integrated Antivirus software tool for scanning shares on viruses at predefined points in time. The Virus Definition Database can be updated and is stored on the appliance. XN Series also supports Online Scanning for all network protocols; any files transferred to the appliance will be scanned for viruses. SNMP (v2 & v3)The Celeros XN supports the SNMP protocol to monitor many system functions e.g. the data throughput, CPU, RAM usage and many others. S.M.A.R.T. SupportThe Celeros EzNAS XN includes S.M.A.R.T. for detecting and reporting the status of the HDDs to anticipate failures. XN Series can be configured to send Email alerts to the system administrator in case of any problem with the hard drive units. iSCSI InitiatorCeleros EzNAS XN supports iSCSI hardware Initiators as well as provide it’s own software iSCSI Initiator to easily expand its storage capacity. Backup-Agents (Veritas, EMC Dantz, CA BrightStor)Celeros EzNAS XN Series backup agents help administrators to backup XN NAS appliances with backup software from Veritas, Dantz, CA BrightStor ARCserve. Using the backup agents, you can administer complete data protection for all data stored on the XN Series. This improves data transfer and provides network security, task monitoring, real-time directory browsing, and cross-platform backup support. Local Backup on Dynamic UnitsIn the XN Series a local HDD or a USB drive can be defined as a Dynamic Unit. On this Unit you can backup the NAS server and store the backup separately. The Dynamic Unit can be removed without shutting down the server and acts like a normal tape drive. Cross Data SynchronizationCeleros XN Series can synchronize files and directories from one XN NAS appliance to another. The data transfer is block- based in order to minimize network traffic. Synchronization can be used for disaster recovery or Disk-to-Disk backup purposes. The XN Series can synchronize data in both directions: the XN Series can be the source and destination of files at the same time, allowing to cross-backup data on several appliances. Support for over 2TB physical and logical volumesWith Celeros EzNAS XN you will be able to build Logical Volumes greater than 2TB. As well, use physical volumes (e.g. RAID units) greater than 2TB. SnapshotSnapshot is an immediate point-in-time image of the logical volume (LV). The snapshot image can be used for both consistent and temporary backup, while users still have uninterrupted and complete access to the LV. Also, if a user accidentally deletes or incorrectly modifies a file, that file can be recovered from a previous snapshot image in minutes. Multiple Snapshot with the scheduling functionCeleros EzNAS XN supports “Multiple Snapshot with Scheduling” to create snapshots at predefined points in time (e.g. Automatically every hour). Multiple Logical Volume & GroupsLogical volume groups allow storage administrators to create logical storage pools that span multiple physical disk drives. With its support of multiple logical volume groups, Celeros EzNAS XN makes it easier to meet the changing needs of users and applications while making the maximum use of available physical disk space. Online Logical Volume ExpansionOnline logical volume expansion allows administrators to change the size of storage volumes as needed without having to restart the application, recreate the volume, and back up and restore the data to the volume. Support for Online Capacity ExpansionThis feature supports RAID controllers’ ability to increase the size of existing units without any impact to the existing data. UPS SupportUninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) eliminates the effects of a temporary power outage and provides safe shutdown, without loss of data, in case of power failure. The UPS device can be connected by COM-port or USB on the appliance. Network UPS SupportEzNAS XN Series is capable of using the SNMP interface for communication with other SNMP-enabled servers (e.g., Celeros EZNAS XN appliances) for a smooth shutdown in case of power failure. The XN appliance with UPS sends the power failure signal through the network to other servers (in slave mode) and will shut down all servers in the network. |
Celeros is selected by IT Week Magazine as Editor's Choice product of 2007.
"After months of talking to various salespeople from other storage vendors, Celeros' rep was the first person to really listen to what I was saying, and to clearly present the difference between NAS and SAN. We were able to buy more storage for less money, and it works well. Post-sale technical support was super." Peter S Wason, IT Specialist, Clark University Labs |
